Swimfit Ocean Swim
10th September, 2016
Port Douglas events
Experience the beauty of famous Four Mile Beach and join the inaugural Swimfit Four Mile Beach Ocean Swim, Saturday 10th September 2016 in Port Douglas.
The Swimfit Four Mile Beach Ocean Swim is a fundraiser for the Port Douglas Surf Life Saving Club with part of the registration fee going to the club to support the great work they do to keep Four Mile Beach a safe place for locals and tourists and of course extra donations are more than welcome!
Inspired by beautiful Four Mile Beach the feature race will be the Sheraton Mirage Port Douglas Four Mile Swim, which is 6.4km making this one of the only long distance ocean swims in far North Queensland. Other race options are the Hive Swimwear Two Mile Swim (3.2km), the Port Douglas Watersports One Mile Swim (1.6km) and The Newsport 500 meter swim.
As the course is set out in laps of 1.6km there is the option of joining the Sheraton Mirage Port Douglas Four Mile and Hives Swimwear Two Mile swims as a team, with a 2 – 4 team members for the 6.4km and a maximum of 2 team members for the 3.2km Swim.
The Swimfit Four Mile Beach Ocean Swim is a non wetsuit event, but with average water temperatures of 25 degrees in October who needs one anyway. With the event being in September stingers should not be an issue just yet, but competitors will be allowed to wear stinger suits.
